Information for International Scientists Traveling to the United States

We would be delighted to have you join us at BCCE 2020. Personal invitations are not necessary to attend meetings of the American Chemical Society. All of the Society’s meetings are open scientific events and welcome all persons who are interested, pay the necessary registration fee and otherwise conform to the Society’s Bylaws for its meetings.

Each BCCE is announced to the scientific and educational communities through publication of the call for papers and the program in a wide variety of national publications including the American Chemical Society’s publication devoted to chemical education, The Journal of Chemical Education (JCE).

The ACS’s website is the best location to obtain current information for international participants regarding visas to attend meetings of the ACS of which the BCCE is one.

If you need to apply for a temporary non-immigrant visa to attend BCCE, you are advised to apply for your visa as soon as travel to the United States is contemplated and no later than 4 to 6 months in advance.

Official Documentation for Attendees and/or Presenters

The BCCE provides several documents that will document your participation in the national meeting and exposition. Please note that neither the American Chemical Society or Oregon State University can intervene with either the U.S. Embassy abroad or with the U.S. State Department on behalf of any participant.

Official Letter of Invitation for Meeting Attendees: The BCCE offers an Official Letter of Invitation to the BCCE (Please check back). You can submit this letter with your visa application to verify the name, dates, location and purpose of the BCCE. We will not be able to generate personal letters of invitation to the embassy or consulate on your behalf.

Personalized Letter to Verify Presentations: More information to come.

Registration Confirmation: More information to come.

Preparing for Your BCCE Meeting Experience

After you complete your visa application, it is time to prepare to travel to BCCE 2020. Transportation and hotel information is posted to this website as well as registration details. We strongly recommend that you complete your hotel reservations and register for BCCE 2020 before the deadlines in order to save money and be assured the proper accommodations.

Neither ACS or Oregon State University provides financial support to meeting participants. Airfare, ground transportation, hotel, meals, travel insurance and any other local expenses are the responsibility of each meeting participant.
